Twig… and the Houseguest
Well Paula, we did it! And it was an unbelievable success. I think you would have been proud of every single one of us. Little man was phenomenal – I’m so proud of him. It took about 1.5 hours for Mom and Dan to be able to enter with him in full disconnect but we gave LOTS of time and space and settling and he 100% got their on his own. He did textbook behavior. Pinging from digging in bed, drinking water, jumping on couches, back to gate to barking, wash rinse repeat. Finally he had a big barking fit, shook off and fell asleep. Not ONE thing after that. Once mom was in, he utterly ignored my mom. No following, monitoring, staring, barking, no stickiness, just like she’s always been here. He utterly ignored her. He was even able to ask to go upstairs by himself. He didn’t stay there, but he brought his ball and hung out for a little bit. He barely would lift his head for more than basic curiosity when he was in the room with us, even if my mom moved about. He slept and groomed and etc etc. Of course, tired from daycare, but still. He was unbelievable. He managed to complete a 100% cycle and it ended SO positive. Looking forward to debriefing. We’re now about to gather with mom outside (he’s in room with me) and head to a walk then airport. I have no words Paula for how well this went and how well and completely fine Twig is. And my mom was a superstar too!
